APPEARANCE.clickhereforvisual aishisu is a nondescript and average-looking cat. neither outrageously beautiful nor horrifically ugly, she exemplifies a median of those ranges. her coloring is common enough; her build not rare. her breed is mixed, just like the scores of she-cats who live it out on the streets. from her build and fur she can suspect that there is a maine coon somewhere in her line of ancestors and some sort of domestic longhair, but those theories are unproven and simply educated guesses of a cat who is bored and tired after a long day. she can mix and mingle with the rest of them or disappear of the face of the planet with none the wiser. perhaps it's genes, perhaps it disregard, perhaps it's apathy, but she has never been anything more than an ordinary cat. she's never cared, either, because she has no intention of trying out to be a fashion model anytime soon. her body is more practical and adaptable, as represented by her hard paws, accustomed to the surfaces of the city streets.
her fur is long and thick, and as a result is often dirty and discolored. fur once intended to be white is gray with dust and lack of proper grooming; dark gray stands out starkly against the more common grayish white color that she sports. in human terms aishisu would be dubbed a "longhaired blue and white bicolor". the majority of her body, especially the front, is the intended "white". the top of her face, back of her head, and tail is deemed as "blue". her body, face, and tail are all heavily haired, but her front leg fur is not nearly as thick and luxurious; rather, it looks shorter and neater, although the color is still off-white like the rest of her body. perhaps the dusty color is even worse there, because the dust often gathers around aishisu's feet and legs when she walks.
aishisu's eyes are a mixture of green and burnt yellow-orange. the yellow dominates, but there is the slightest tint of green that shades her eyes, especially the upper parts. the exact color is subjective to who is looking; sometimes it could be classified as amber, and sometimes just a hazel-type color. the color is murky and confusing; aishisu lacks a certain depth and vitality in her eyes that others possess. they say eyes are a window to the soul -- well, if so, then aishisu has a very opaque, confusing soul that is framed by both dark gray and pure white. her fur is whitest in her face, but the gray is darkest there as well. her face is rounded and blurred by the mass of fur there; her whiskers barely discernible when contrasted with the background of her fur. her nose is black, startling close to the color of the fur that lines her right eye.
the build is bulky and large. aishisu walks on the heavier side of the she-cat spectrum, weighing in at approximately thirteen pounds. now this is not nearly as heavy as some males, especially maine coon males, but her actual weight does not correlate directly with her size; her long fur makes her appear even larger. with fur that sticks out at all directions and a naturally burly build, aishisu could easily be passed for a male if not for her feminine movements. her walk is dainty and balanced, and if anybody thinks she is a male after close inspection they are most certainly either blind or mentally deficient. her feminine habits also shine through through her appearance: although aishisu doesn't care to completely clean and groom her fur, she is vain enough to make sure that her fur is always smooth and knots are kept at bay.
PERSONALITY. an intensely private cat, aishisu prefers to keep all her past experiences bottled up inside of her. unlike the talkers who prefer to brag about their travels, aishisu shirks from discussing personal matters and opinions. she does not know whether it is shame or reclusiveness that causes this; she doesn't really care. she is not one to question the meanings of deep philosophical statements that silly, lazy cats spout out. she is more preoccupied with surviving and making sure she'll be able to last the next day, and the day after that, and the days and days that consist of the rest of her life. she thinks cats who live solely for entertaining others are disgusting, and she avoids them like the plague. easily impressionable, aishisu is quick to make assumptions and slow to retract them. for her, everything involves one: one shot to impress her, one chance to do what she wants, one experience she'll remember clearly in the future.
although she herself prefers not to disclose information, aishisu is clearly interested in what others have to say about themselves. this is one of her few ways to gauge the reliability and trustworthiness of others, and it is traditional for her to pry for info as soon as she can. once she clears out all the hyperboles and half-truths, she is quite interested in the stories of others. one might go as far as to call her nosy and hypocritical; once she makes an acquaintance she is quick to interrogate him or her. she expects to know the secrets and dreams of others, but she expects that others will ask nothing in return. in fact, she answers rather snobbishly when asked to talk about herself. this is to hide her shyness and insecurity; the truth is, she is afraid what others will think of her and avoids personal details, and so she thinks, judgment. she knows that if she tells cats stories only of her successes, they will want to hear of her weaknesses, and that is something she cannot have.
quick to criticize and sensitive to criticism, aishisu tends to avoid requests for critique entirely. she always finds problems in other cats: how they talk, how they walk, how they hunt, how they smell, where they live. she thinks of herself as the ideal cat others should strive for, and hates it when other cats insult her in turn. she is especially sensitive towards comments toward her size and appearance. she knows she isn't the most beautiful she-cat out there and that other males find many cats more appealing than her, but she doesn't like it when others, especially females, rub it in. when wronged in her eyes, she will at first reply snappishly and then, if that doesn't work, ignore you entirely. forgiveness doesn't come easy to her, as she believes that smart cat will not transgress in the first place.
despite her shortcomings, aishisu is usually friendly to strangers and willing to give them a chance. when a cat is in need, she takes some time to give them a morsel of her meal or offer them a safe place to stay. she prefers she-cats to tomcats, as she thinks males are always rushing off to defend their honor or playing hero to a females who can take care of themselves. ironically, she also prefers strangers to individuals close to her. this is because she doesn't want other cats to know her too well. she believes that once cats know her for a long enough time, they turn horribly introspective. she wants to know others so she can have help when she's in need, not so she can ruminate on all the different beliefs that other cats sport and where she fits in with all the religious mania.
aishisu doesn't believe in an afterlife: there is no heaven or hell, and there's no point in worrying about it. to her, there is no purpose to life except to survive, and she survives because she fears a lack of living. perhaps it's painless, perhaps it's even less work than living. however, she is sure that she will not breathe when she is dead, and her heart will not beat. she will no longer have a sense of time, and that terrifies her. her whole life depends on time -- time to sleep, time to hunt, time to think. what will she do without it? more selfishly, she likes seeing things for herself and she likes talking and she likes seeing all different things. she is selfish, and she is sure that she will not enjoy death as much as she enjoys life, practical as hers is.
aishisu likes to see herself as a practical cat, but she also has her moments of indulgence. after all, death and trouble and accidents have to take time off once in a while, right? and during that time it doesn't matter how careful you are, because nothing will happen to you all the same. sometimes aishisu enjoys tempting fate. she might insult a cat larger than her or wander into unknown territory just for the thrill of it. she has days where her sole purpose is to have fun. oh, she has her moments of guilt afterward, but she enjoys the whole spontaneity and hypocrisy of it all. for isn't she the one who promotes simplicity, the one who doesn't have fun and disapproves of hedonism? she likes this confusion that she brings upon other cats and does this just to mix things up.
HISTORY. aishisu was born in a family of vagrants, living life out in the foothills near the sprawling mountains. her father, edward, came from a large family originating from the western monarchy that eventually cut ties with the monarchy. her mother, claudette, was born into a line of vagrants and knew no other life. edward was a stubborn, hardheaded tom, and when he first set eyes on claudette, he was enamored. although claudette refused his earliest advances, believing him to be another coarse, repugnant feudal cat, edward remained determined and moved near her family, deserting his own. minutely impressed with edward, claudette began to pay more attention to him. they settled in the woodlands near claudette's family, and soon claudette discovered that she was pregnant. the two of them were delighted, but the others did not share the same sentiments. claudette's mother, mary, had disliked edward from the start, and drove the two out of the islet. edward and claudette moved toward the foothills, discouraged.
one day after they had made their home, claudette bore two healthy, female kits. there was a third, but it was stillborn. the smaller of the kits was named isis. the firstborn was aishisu. and so they lived, happy in their little home, undisturbed by others. edward took off occasionally, insisting that he wanted to avoid drawing claudette and their kits into any confrontations with his family. isis and aishisu lived safely with their mother for four months. however, edward's family was not to be deterred forever, and was outraged at his desertion. one moon, while edward was scouting out the territory near where they lived, his family followed his original scent trail to find claudette and their kittens. crowing at their victory, they slaughtered claudette and isis. they kept aishisu alive, reasoning that if they killed all of those close to edward, he would commit suicide. what fun was that?
a day later, edward returned to find that his former friends had left a grisly present for him: the corpses of claudette and isis. he was enraged, yet he knew he would have to compose himself. aishisu still needed him, after all; the she-kit was terrified and beside herself. still unused to the fact that her mother and sister were dead, aishisu kept keening for them. she was devastated when they did not answer her and she withdrew into herself. edward taught her how to hunt and fight. she was adept at both, but she found no reason to try. her family was no longer there to offer her encouragement; edward was struggling with his own grief and did not know how he could stay strong in front of his daughter. listless and sad, aishisu began to spend more and more time away from home. she wandered around, surviving by herself.
she had begun to hate her father. was he really so selfish as to abandon his remaining kit for his sorrow? aishisu became more headstrong and independent, spending time away for stretches of moons at a time. one day, when she returned to their home, she found that edward was dead as well. further inspection confirmed that her father had committed suicide. for the first time, aishisu understood why her father acted the way he did. guilt overcame her, and it was as if her stubbornness and arrogance dissipated. stricken, she moved away from their former home after she saw that her father was good and buried so no scavengers would devour him. the happy foothills were happy no longer.
she wandered listlessly, with no idea where she was headed or what she would do. she accidentally strayed upon the territory of the eastern monarchy without realizing it. once discovered, she was captured. she became a serf of the kingdom, bound to those above her. aishisu threw herself into the work, knowing nothing else to occupy her time. she remains a serf to this day, but is determined to someday move up in the ranks of her monarchy; why remain downtrodden forever?
